The new geographical indication (GI) \u00ab\u00a0Couteau Laguiole\u00a0\u00bb has been added to the list of thirteen GIs already approved by the French National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), such as \u00ab Tapisserie d\u2019Aubusson\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Pierre de Bourgogne\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Granit de Bretagne\u00a0\u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Porcelaine de Limoges \u00bb, \u00ab\u00a0Linge basque \u00bb\u2026 The INPI has approved the specifications for the \u00ab\u00a0Couteau Laguiole\u00a0\u00bb indication. This approval was published in the Official Journal n\u00b0 0221 of September 23, 2022 – Text n\u00b0 68.<\/p>\n
It is recalled that “a geographical indication is the name of a geographical area or a specific place used to designate a product, other than agricultural, forestry, food or sea products, which originates there and has a specific quality, a reputation or other characteristics that can be essentially attributed to that geographical origin (…)”. – Article L721-2 Intellectual Property Code.<\/p>\n
The management and the defense of the indication \u00ab\u00a0Couteau Laguiole\u00a0\u00bb are entrusted to the Association “Couteau Laguiole Aubrac Auvergne” (CLAA).<\/p>\n
The approval of this name should thus reinforce its value and protection against unauthorized use.<\/p>\n
