DOMAIN NAMES-AFNIC-OPENING OF A MEDIATION PROCEDURE
Afnic (Association Française pour le Nommage Internet en Coopération) manages domain names under the .fr extensions and those of the following overseas territories: Reunion Island .re, Saint-Pierre et Miquelon .pm, French Southern and Antarctic Territories .tf, Wallis and Futuna .wf and Mayotte .yt.
Since July 3, 2023, Afnic has been offering a mediation service designed to help resolve disputes between a rightful owner and the holder of a domain name registered under one or other of the above-mentioned extensions, within a short timeframe, amicably and confidentially. This is a new means of amicably resolving disputes between a domain name managed by Afnic (.fr and overseas) and prior rights (trademark, domain name, company name, trade name, etc.).
Please note that Afnic already offers two alternative dispute resolution procedures. These are SYRELI (SYstème de REsolution de LItiges) and PARL EXPERT (Procédure Alternative de Résolution de Litiges of the Afnic in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization).
The present mediation will intervene prior to the opening of one or other of the said procedures.
