DESIGNEUROPA 2023 : THE PALMARES
Since 2016, date of the first edition of the “DesignEuropa” prize, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) rewards every two years some holders of registered Community designs (CDM) valid at the date of submission of the application for the award.
The prize includes the “Industry” and “Small and Medium Companies” categories, as well as the “Lifetime Achievement” award for the most influential designers in the design field.
The winners for 2023 have been announced – (Source EUIPO) :
· “Industry” category: SMEG SPA (Italy) – Designers: Vittorio Bertazzoni, Matteo Bazzicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti – Fully automatic espresso coffee machine (EM ID: n° 008037022-(0001-0005).
· “Small and Medium Companies” category: REMIGO (Slovenia) – Designer Ajda Bertok – Integrated electric outboard motor. – (EM ID n°008503486-0001).
Last but not least, this year’s winner of the “Lifetime Achievement” prize is Maria Benktzon, born in Sweden in 1946. Her work focuses mainly on everyday objects (drip-proof coffee makers, plates, cups, etc. in collaboration with Sven Eric Juhlin). Maria Benktzon’s work has been exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa- New York) and the Centre Pompidou (Paris).
