REGULATION ON THE PROTECTION OF GEOGRAPHICAL INDICATIONS FOR ARTISANAL AND INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS

As a reminder, the protection of geographical indications for artisanal and industrial products has been strengthened at European level, following the example of that already granted to agricultural products, foodstuffs, wines and spirits.

The draft regulation concerning these products, approved by the European Parliament on September 12, 2023, has just been adopted by the Council of the European Union. Regulation (EU) 2023/2411 of the European Parliament and of the Council of October 18, 2023 amending Regulations (EU) 2017/1001 and (EU) 2019/1753 was published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) of October 27, 2023.
